Teknicolors South Lyon Closing

Dear Friends,

I regret to inform you that Teknicolors will be closing the South Lyon location at the end of September. We are very saddened by this news. We have enjoyed our time here and assisting in your home decor projects has been a great pleasure. You have been wonderful to work with and your loyalty to our store has been a blessing.

Teknicolors will continue to service the following locations: Farmington 248-994-1300, Birmingham 248-646-5924, Redford 313-537-4500 and Pontiac 248-745-0003. If you need any materials or technical advice please feel free to contact any of these stores.

Wendy will continue taking care of her 2 beautiful granddaughters two days a week and will take more time to spend on her home projects.

Laura is still available for wallpaper installation and can be reached at 248-344-8644.

The teknicolors blog will remain up and running in support of our wonderful contractors, designers, installers, etc. These local talents have also been fabulous to work with and we appreciate their business tremendously. The Best Way to Clean your Painted Walls

Always use a natural sea sponge when cleaning your painted walls. The soft and gentle material picks up dirt and releases it into your rinse water, whereas a rag and water only moves the dirt around and may also burnish the paint finish. Never scrub your painted walls with abrasive materials. It's best to use clean, filtered water with a mild cleansing soap (often a light hand or dish soap is sufficient). Blot the area dry with the natural sponge, do not scrub.

Small, medium, and large natural sea sponges are available at Teknicolors and are recommended for cleaning all interior latex paint finishes.

Fabulous!

What a fabulous event last Saturday! We had a wonderful time demonstrating the wall textures and color washes! Thanks to everyone who attended. If you have any further questions on the techniques feel free to call, email, or drop in.

For those who were unable to attend, we have a few boards made up if you'd like to stop in and try the process. Give us a call and let us know when you're coming and we'll get things ready for you.

Our next class is a Furniture Makeover class where we will be exploring new and inovative ways to update the old furniture stacked up in your basement or attic. It will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 4:00 p.m.

Tray Liner Clean-up Tip from Better Homes and Gardens

Q. It takes so much time and effort to wash paint trays -- is there a good alternative?

Brian Santos: Slide a metal roller tray into a heavy-duty tall plastic kitchen trash bag, then press the bag into the tray to create a liner. Keep the plastic bag in place with a few pieces of blue painter's tape.

To store paint in the tray overnight, seal it by dampening a large towel and draping it over the covered tray. The bag liner makes cleanup a cinch; simply turn the bag inside out and toss it in the trash.
